Description 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the company’s financial records. This individual will provide strategic direction setting to the business to achieve the company’s goals. This individual must be able to engage and influence both internal and external stakeholders. Duties will include the following:

  • Responsible for the prompt and efficient delivery of Global Business (GB) services to support BUs in Country Cluster West Africa
  • Driving compliance to local tax regulations for BWA and BOLFZE
  • Accountable for managing the BASF internal audit (COA) and the external audits (i.e., tax audits with both Federal and State Inland Revenue Services as well as financial audits with KPMG)
  • Overall accountability on the VAT processes for BWA and BOLFTZE
  • Support on the financial compliance matters to ensure that there is no LTO (License To Operate) issues, including the governance requirements for Finance and Procurement processes
  • Accountable for financial forecasting, fixed assets, and physical inventory
  • Providing local intelligence and options on treasury tools and instruments to manage risks and enable settlement of intercompany payables (and identification and assessment of FX and MM risks)
  • Accountable for local projects assigned for in the GB, and EU – regional organizations
  • Managing working capital needs to support business growth
  • Providing administrative leadership to the Financial and Business Reporting in BWA and BOLFZE
  • Act as a direct strategic business partner for GB Head and regional & country senior management
  • Create transparency for business development topics and act as a local challenger for support units in cost development
  • Support and follow up functional budgets (reporting and forecasting) for GB and EU organizations
  • Monitoring the relevant KPI’s to measure the performance of the region
  • Coordinate Cost Sharing Agreement process and alignment with stakeholders
  • Support global, regional, and country finance and controlling projects
  • Take active role in optimizing of processes, guidelines, and policies regarding the area of responsibility
  • Ensure and support P&L reporting of BASF legal entities and make sure it complies with local requirements and legislations
  • First level of support in local ICTP matters for local requirements and legislations

What We Expect

  • Relevant degree in Finance/ Accounting (BSC, MSC)
  • Minimum of 7 years in relevant field
  • Good knowledge of the SAP ERP
  • Processes, structures and reporting content are adhered to and up to date
  • Deadlines are met, and data is accurate, reliable and comprehensively presented to all relevant parties
