The Materials Specialist reports to the Regional Category Manager for Manufacturing and manages material and inventory for Chevron Oronite Pte Ltd. The role will require close collaboration and positive relationship building with management, business stakeholders, Indirect Procurement team and external vendors to deliver key strategies for sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate thinks strategically and is collaborative but also works with significant autonomy; a strong individual who can drive warehouse and materials management strategies; has proven track record of managing multiple initiatives and driving them to completion to meet business objectives; communicates effectively and strong ability to influence business stakeholders and suppliers at all levels and have a high level of professionalism, customer focus and business judgement.

Responsibilities for this position may include but not limited to:

  • Manages MRO inventory management programs include cycle count processes, FIFO, serialization, Excess and Obsolete (E&O), inventory reconciliation, inventory counts and adjustments, inventory preservation and maintenance programs, and stocking levels optimization in the warehouse in accordance with corporate policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Be the subject matter expert with the ERP system, SAP, to resolve inventory discrepancies, while implementing systematic improvements, and ensure tracking is visible on all inbound and outbound material.

  • Ensures the accuracy, timeliness, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance in all inventory and distribution activities. Perform root cause investigations of complex inventory discrepancies and suggest corrective actions.

  • Coordinates annual physical inventories review and analyzes data to establish inventory and financial impact of transactions and adjustments.

  • Coordinates, oversees, and witnesses the handling of company-owned materials in various storage yards, movements to and from repair shops, coating and inspection facilities and loadouts.

  • Updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Warehouse and ensuring SOPs are current and maintained for review.

  • Creates and analyzes weekly reports to review activity and performance to develop inventory optimization plans. Identifies trends and work with peers to offer guidance in process and procedure improvements.

  • Supports special departmental project initiatives around cost reduction, process improvement, and new system enhancements.

  • Coordinates the selection and implementation of latest digital solutions to drive improvement in the warehouse operations.

  • Create reports and data sets to support the overall operations and maintenance departments to identify process gaps, inventory aging, and consolidation activities.

  • Reports to management team regularly and provides recommendations on inventory control processes, network optimizations, and routing changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in warehouse & inventory management or supply chain operations in a manufacturing or similar operating environment.

  • Exposure in applying advanced technologies for Warehouse management and operations.

  • Good team player and strong drive for performance and results.

  • Proven ability to interface and influence stakeholders at various levels within the organization to drive outcome and results.

  • Strong analytical and project management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrates the ability to identify new opportunities, challenge the “status quo” and drive changes.

  • Experience in SAP, Ariba, GEP (SMART) and proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Advanced data analytics knowledge using Power BI and/or MS Access / Excel.

  • Experience in leading Lean Six Sigma projects will be an advantage.

  • Experience as supervisor or relevant role in leading a group of workers will be an advantage.
