Payroll Specialist (FinTech/Cryptocurrency)

Requirements
+4 years experience within payroll
Relevant tertiary education. Payroll certifications preferred
Accounting knowledge is a plus
Experience in processing payroll in the company’s key markets in West Africa, Southern Africa, and Eastern Africa in 17 countries and growing i.e. Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Congo, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Zambia, South Africa.
Experience in Cryptocurrency advantageous
Knowledge of payroll best practices.
Proficient in using software tools like SAP, Excel/Google Sheet.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact.
High level of curiosity, initiative and the desire to learn end-to-end processes to drive improvements
Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of initiative
Strong communication, problem solving, organisation, and analytical skills
Responsibilities
Prepare monthly payroll submissions and review it for completeness and accuracy
Process payments like net salaries to employees, tax payments, pension payments, etc.
Process special payrolls including the annual bonus and year-end adjustment payrolls.
Manage annual returns and other statutory filings as they relate to payroll, payroll taxes, and benefits
Reconcile the payroll data to the audited financial statements
Maintain control over all documentation, records, and processes.
Assist in managing Payroll vendors across multiple countries
Other ad-hoc duties required from time to time
Communicates with the Human Resources Department to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, transfers and rate changes.
Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll information such as PTO and ESL, banking, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, and other changes.
Recommends or participates in the development of new procedures and policies related to payroll operations policies and regulations
